Hi there…My name is Keith. This is my site. I’m glad you stopped by.

Now, what could you possibly want to know about me? You came here, so you must be at least somewhat interested. Here’s the breakdown I guess:

  • Birthday: January 12th, 1981
  • Location: Chicago, Illinois
  • Education:
  • I’m currently working at The Parking Spot in Chicago, Illinois.
  • Major interests: Just about anything technology-related—mainly computers and electronics—and (intelligent) lighting (stage/theatre/concert, whatever you like)

I am a professional geek. That’s right.

About my web site…

The reason that this site is here is so that I have a way to share with you some things about myself as well as some of the things I’ve done. I believe that information and knowledge should be shared, not locked up in a box where no one ever gets it. Generally I like to share whatever knowledge I have with other people in whatever way I can.

The tech stuff…

Until October of 2010, www.kbx81.net was hosted on a dual 1.4 GHz Pentium III system with a gigabyte of memory and a pair of (software mirrored) 300 gigabyte hard disks. In mid-October of 2010, I moved the site onto a virtual machine running Debian Linux 5 (aka “Lenny”). The virtual machine is running under VMware Fusion on my (mid) 2008 Mac Pro system, which consists of dual quad-core Xeon 5400-series CPUs running at 3.2 GHz with 32 gigabytes of RAM and four 750-gigabyte hard disks in a RAID-5 configuration. The virtual machine itself has access to eight processor cores but is using only two gigabytes of RAM.

Thank you for visiting.
